Happy Thursday guys!
So in Internet-land, Thursdays are the days where it’s socially acceptable to flood people’s feed with pictures of the past, using the hashtag #ThrowbackThursdays. It’s fun to do!  I do it all the time, and I could have just as well do it with these pictures. HOWEVER, I wanted to immortalize these moments, and these pictures with more than just a single picture post.

A little back history as to why this is important to me:
My grandma is a seamstress, and all through grade school and most of my high school years, she sewed all of my uniforms. My uniforms were super special, because I was the only person in my school who would have decorative stitches around my collar, my sleeves and somewhere on the bodice. Here’s an epic throwback picture, lol – DON”T LAUGH!!! I don’t remember why I was annoyed but I’m almost certain it had something to do with that ridiculous hat on my head! lol Not a really defined picture…but you can sort of make out the decorative stitches.

When we made a visit back to Belize in 2013 to introduce Abigail to the rest of our family, my only mission was to sit with my Grandma a few moments each day, so she could teach me something about sewing actual wearable garments. Before that, I was only sewing scarves and pillow case dresses. So we did just that, she taught me about necklines, and armholes and how to insert a sleeve while I watched as she sewed a top for Abigail.

It was too big for her then (she was less than a year old) but now, it fits her perfectly! So in honor of #throwbackthursday, and to immortalize in Internet-land the significance of this top, and all that it means, here is Abigail wearing the top made for her, by her Great Grandmother Nora. (She styled herself by the way…lol)

I’m really glad that Abigail will have something to remember her by in the future. I can only hope that I’ll be able to give my children, and grandchildren and nieces and nephews the same Pride and Joy I felt, whenever I would get a new set of uniforms from my Grandma. And I hope that someday, I’ll be half as good a seamstress as she is.

Thats it for today guys! Talk to you soon!
