Happy Monday Lovelies!

It’s hard to believe it’s already April, even harder to believe that my boy cub will be 12 in a couple weeks! (Gosh, I feel old :/ ) So in honor of it being his birthday month, I thought it would be a fun idea to feature a boy sew each week for the month of April – starting with the preteen approved Semper Sweater by Sofilantjes Patterns.

I received a surprise package of custom knits from my favorite European fabric store; HAPPY FABRICS last week, and they couldn’t have been more perfect for the Semper Sweater. First up, some action pics followed by my review:

I made a special effort to make sure the triangles in the hood matched the directions of the triangles on the sleeves once the hood was down.

Pattern DescriptionThe Semper Sweater by Sofilantjes

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 11 per his chest measurements. I should have allocated maybe an inch more for his long arms, so there was more length bc it fits just right now, don’t know about how it will fit next week, he seems to be growing like a weed. *insert sad violins here*

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern once you were done sewing it?  YES

Were the instructions easy to follow?  Yes. Even though, I’m not a fan of column reading because I think it tends to look more cluttered and it’s personally harder for me to follow (just the way my brain functions I suppose),  I appreciated that every step was taken into consideration and explained with highlighted notes on key parts that needed special attention.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you madeNot a design change per say, but the only thing I didn’t do was add the pockets.

What did you particularly like about the pattern? I love the fact that the Semper Sweater is a unisex pattern and it runs from 12 mths to 14 years! So I can use this one pattern for both Adrian and Abigail. Pattern features include short or long raglan sleeves, side panels, pockets within the side panels, a cowl or a hood and an extra bonus mini dress add-on! I also appreciated that for the first time in my pdf pattern journey I didn’t have to use my scissors because the pattern pieces are trim-less. I absolutely love that, and it really cut my prep time in half.

What did you dislike about the pattern? Beside the column reading (which is really just my personal preference), there was nothing to dislike about this pattern. It is really great.

Fabric Used: Custom Knit from Happy Fabrics: Penguins & Black Marble Triangles

Will I sew this pattern again? :  I have to because Abigail wants her own. haha.

And that’s it for today guys, thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed something boyish for a change! Have a great week, I’ll talk to you soon!
